About Us

Project 351 is an innovative statewide youth-driven service organization that unites an eighth grade Ambassador from every city and town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for a transformative year of leadership development, enrichment, and impact. Through unique service opportunities, Ambassadors gain valuable skills, create positive change in communities, build a statewide network of values-aligned peers, and unite the Commonwealth in common purpose.

Project 351 celebrates the ethic of service, youth leadership, and the diversity of our state. Our mission is strengthened by the support and belief of an extraordinary community of educators, non-profit organizations, civic leaders, and the investment and active engagement of corporate citizens and foundations. We are an independent 501c3 registered nonprofit. Project 351 does not receive state or federal funds.

The Project 351 Story

In 2011, Project 351 was conceived as a one-day event for Governor Deval Patrick’s second Inauguration. More than 400 eighth graders representing every city and town in the Commonwealth joined together to serve, develop leadership skills, and discuss issues critical to you people and their communities.

By day’s end, the Ambassadors had impacted the lives of more than 8,000 citizens, gained confidence and capabilities, built friendships with peers from diverse backgrounds, and committed to build the ethic of service in their communities. The day’s success and unique focus on statewide unity forged by youth compelled the formation of Project 351 as a twelve-month independent non-profit organization. Project 351 is now convened by Governor Charlie Baker and is most grateful for his strong support and belief in our young leaders.
